New Business:
Business Membership Policy discussion–
- Add “physically working in Evendale” and they must register with the tax department before the application is approved.
- Last month’s question regarding limiting the number of business membership was reviewed by the Village Solicitor and he saw no problems with our ability to regulate memberships.
Budget Sub-Committee Formed
- Members are Molly McMahon, Mike Flavin, Wayne Mosley, and Dave Nichols.
- Dave will contact everyone and arrange a meeting time, maybe in August.
Old Business:
Tri-Health Report-
- no discussion
Pool Hours on Sunday discussion-
- Currently we close at 8:00pm, could that be changed to 9:00pm during kickball season? Many players like to go swimming after their game. Or, could it be changed that if a large group is there at 8:00pm and it is hot that evening, that the pool remains open. Must consider the lifeguards, and parents who pick them up.
Director’s Report:
- The Recreation building will close at noon on Saturday, August 26th and re-open at our normal time on Monday, August 28th.
The floor in the Multipurpose Room will be re-finished on August 30th.
- The west racquetball court is closed because of water damage from a roof leak. The water affected the wall panels and wood floor. The roof is being fixed this week.
The wall panels and floor will be corrected after the roof is repaired.
- A structural engineer has looked at the windows in the fitness center and submitted a report to the Mayor, Dave, and the village engineer just this week.
The engineer is continuing to work on this issue.
- Dave is creating a sexual offender policy. Nothing has happened; this is strictly a pro-active move.
- Bleachers, an Evendale Business, has requested use of a room once a week, or so, for a trading card club. There would no charge to residents to attend, and any problems that
arise would result in the cancellation of the usage. Commission recommends he start with coming in on a Phi Lambda Pi night (since this is probably his primary target age). This would also allow department staff to observe and evaluate. No promises of a club after meeting with Phi Lambda Pi.
- Kristen Maiden, Sports Supervisor, submitted an official rules change request to the soccer league regarding the running up of the score during games. The change will be voted
on at the October meeting and; if passed, would take effect in spring, 2006. Right now, the coaches are being asked to make changes in lines, etc, if the score difference gets too big.
Phi Lambda Pi Report:
The group heads to Gatlinburg this weekend.
Open Discussion:
Five-Year Master Plan
- In preparation for the grant application, we need to survey the areas involved for trail development and estimate a cost.
- Dave will contact Wyoming Recreation regarding their receipt of the Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources Trail Grant last year.
- Grants Sub-Committee was formed; members are Mary Lou Isaac, Michele Gottschlich, and Dave Nichols. The Mayor and James Jeffers, Village Engineer,
will also be asked to join.
- The Sub-Committee will be able to coordinate with the Park Hills Association and Rest Haven on trail development and the grants process.
Department Event Scheduling Discussion
- Last Saturday, two events were scheduled at the same time; therefore, many people were unable to attend both. Disappointing many. Is there anyway we can schedule the
concerts on Friday nights or some other day during the week. Dave stated that the Family Pool Party has been scheduled for 12-18 months, and the U.S. Amateur
Ballroom rentals have been scheduled for over 12 months.
Motion to Adjourn made at 9:05am by Wayne Mosley; Mary Lou Isaac. Motion passed.
